What is an obstacle?

An obstacle is something, material or non material, that stands in the way of literal or figurative progress. –dictionary.reference.com

Life is definitely difficult than it seems to be. We tend to face problems and hurdles at every phase of our life. Yet, we know, that we have to look ahead and pace up. The hurdles can be in the form of family conflicts, financial problems, health related issues or problems related to adjustment in social life. All of these are actually related to the self limiting beliefs that stop us from moving ahead.

The basis of this issue is that the smallest perception can create a belief which gradually grows larger. A lot of times, we tend to become unconscious and tend to direct all the actions in accordance with these self formed beliefs. These sub conscious acts tend to slowly become a part of our character and result in a huge impact on our personality. When we talk about such beliefs, these can be of various types. There are many beliefs which tend to have a positive impact on our personality and lifestyle. However, in some cases, these beliefs can be negative, which when reinforced on our personality, tend to create a huge impact and makes us weak.

When facing such obstacles in life, one has to always deal with perseverance and courage. The stronger we face these obstacles, the lesser they’ll become. There are also other ways to deal with these obstacles such as the following:

1. Positive thinking

This is the first step towards clearing your obstacles. The very thought of quitting a task would never ever let you succeed at all. That is why, a positive frame of mind is needed at all the times in order to find a solution to the

2. Relax your mind

Tension and stress would never let you succeed in life. Being tension free would make you focus so that maximum obstacles are eliminated.

 3. Perseverance and persistence

The problem would not solve on its own. But you need to wait for the results to surface. This patience and endurance is an experience in itself, which, through the test of time, would make you have a whole new insight about the notion of the problem.

4. Find new opportunities

Dynamism is the key to success. So don’t wait for opportunities to show up. Rather, take charge and find new challenges and opportunities in your daily routine work. It would not only make you creative, but would give you lots of determination and strength. This lady overcame obstacles in her life and found opportunities. Hear her story here.

I think relaxing your mind and going off to do something else, is one of the best ways to overcome obstacles. However, if you’re anything like me, you will find that hard to do. It’s not easy to walk away and do something else. however, every time I walk away and not think about it, I come up with a solution!

Also, focusing on the solutions works better than focusing on the problem itself.

Great comment about walking away Julieanne.

Hi Siphosith, I think another good way to overcome obstacles is to focus on potential solutions, instead of the problems. And, if you don’t have the mindset, you can’t help but think about the problems.

Thank you for sharing this! I think my favorite is inspiration… inspiration is really what keeps the gears moving even the going gets rough. In the end everything you wrote about also has to do with how you manage your mind instead of letting your mind manage you. Great read 🙂

So important to have a good mindset when the obstacles occur. For the past 2 weeks I have been dealing with the aftermath of a hard drive failing in my desktop. It has taken hours and hours to download and save files, upload to the notebook and then install a new hard drive and a new Microsoft Office and then start uploading programs. Forget all the passwords and usernames and products that no longer accept the license key, etc.

But my mindset is to just get the tasks done – and at the same time do a bit of another tedious task – organizing my tax papers and listing the details. So – that is all getting me ready for a fabulous 2015 when I implement so much of what I have intended to do for a long time – webinars, more ebooks and other products.

For me, all of the items you listed have helped me along the way. At this point I look for inspiration and new opportunities that I can capitalize on and collaborate on with like minded professionals.

Life takes more than it gives, it’s when people do the same that humanity suffers. Obstacles will never go away, so we must learn from them and teach others to do the same. For those who lose focus or hope, I recommend charity and volunteer work to keep the mind right and bring good Karma.
